Recent reports indicate that the Xbox brand is facing significant challenges in Europe, characterized by a severe lack of console availability. Major retailers like Amazon, MediaMarkt, and FNAC are frequently reporting out-of-stock status for the Xbox Series X, leaving consumers with limited options.

Where units are available, prices have reached prohibitive levels. Some retailers are charging as much as 973 euros per unit, while in Denmark, the 1TB version has been observed priced between 9,999 and 10,367 Danish kroner, equivalent to approximately 1,340 to 1,390 euros. Direct orders through Microsoft are also experiencing extended wait times and logistical difficulties.

The scarcity is largely attributed to rising component manufacturing costs, which have forced major hardware manufacturers to increase console prices. Analysts, including Neil Barbour, have noted that the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6 is not providing sufficient incentive for companies to ramp up production at reasonable price points.

Industry forecasts from S&P Global Market Intelligence previously predicted a 19.5% decline in global console distribution for 2026. Furthermore, major retail chains have warned that supply will likely remain insufficient to meet consumer demand throughout the holiday season.
