Developer fingerEase of Neo Enigmaniax announced that the horse racing party game Kokon Tozai Derby will launch on Steam on October 30, 2026. The title is priced at 790 yen and supports both single-player and online multiplayer for up to eight participants.
The game blends the traditional Japanese word-association game Kokon Tozai with horse racing. Players name their horses based on specific themes, such as sushi ingredients, which then determine the animal's statistics including speed, stamina, power, and preferred racing style. Because the name dictates the horse's performance, players must balance thematic relevance with competitive strength.
Races are simulated in 3D and feature commentary generated by VOICEVOX that reads the custom horse names aloud. During online matches, players can vote to disqualify horses they believe do not fit the assigned theme. If a majority agrees, the horse is removed from the race.
Players can bet on races using in-game currency and earn over 200 cosmetic skins, such as crowns or dragon wings, through a gacha system. A free demo is currently available on Steam until November 15, allowing for online play. The developer permits streaming and monetization of the game without prior notification.
