Sony Interactive Entertainment has unveiled the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition Midnight Black, a new model exclusive to the Japanese market. The console is scheduled for release on November 19.
The device is a color variation of the existing Japanese-only digital model. It is designed specifically for domestic use, featuring a system language restricted to Japanese and requiring a PlayStation account registered to the Japan region.
Internally, the hardware mirrors previous versions, utilizing an 8-core, 16-thread AMD CPU and an RDNA-based GPU. It includes 16GB of main memory and an 825GB internal SSD.
While the console lacks an optical drive, users can attach a separately sold disc drive. A matching Midnight Black disc drive will also launch on November 19. Additionally, purchasers may qualify for a manufacturer warranty extension from one to two years if they apply by March 31, 2027.
