Key information
A high-stakes robbery occurred on October 13 in Santa Ana, California, involving a FedEx truck parked near the Professional Sports Authenticator facility. Thieves successfully stole two full pallets of trading cards and partially raided a third, resulting in a loss estimated at approximately $963,000.
The stolen cargo consisted of various trading cards, including sports and Pokemon collectibles. These items were being transported by collectors from across the nation to the Professional Sports Authenticator for official grading and authentication services.
In response to the incident, Collectors, the parent company of the grading service, has deactivated the certificates for all missing cards. The company has also alerted its marketplace businesses to monitor for the stolen inventory while cooperating with the ongoing law enforcement investigation.
The Santa Ana Police Department noted that the exact total value of the stolen goods remains undetermined. Meanwhile, Collectors has initiated direct contact with the affected customers to arrange compensation based on the fair market value of their lost items.
