Microsoft has unveiled a new pricing structure for Xbox Cloud Gaming, introducing "cloud playtime packs" for users without a Game Pass subscription. Currently accessible to Xbox Insiders, these introductory rates provide ad-free streaming, reduced wait times, and improved quality.
The available playtime packs are priced at $4 for 10 hours, $8 for 25 hours, and $12 for 50 hours. While these options are currently limited to Insiders, Microsoft plans to expand availability to a broader audience beginning in November.
Starting in November, existing Game Pass members will face new monthly usage caps. Subscribers will receive 15 hours for Ultimate, 10 hours for Premium, and 5 hours for Essential. Microsoft estimates these restrictions will affect approximately 4% of its user base.
Beyond these changes, an ad-supported version of the cloud service remains available for Insiders. Microsoft acknowledges the adjustment is significant for frequent users, though the company has not detailed the methodology behind its impact projections.
