Electronic Arts is undergoing a corporate restructuring that includes staff layoffs and the closure of BioWare. Amid these changes, the publisher announced that Respawn Entertainment and DICE are collaborating on a new project intended to bolster the company's shooter portfolio.

According to a report from Variety citing multiple sources, this collaborative effort is Star Wars Battlefront 3. While EA has not officially confirmed the title, the company stated that the project aims to unlock growth, incorporating lessons learned from the launch and live service operations of Battlefield 6.

The potential development of a third entry aligns with rumors that Lucasfilm Games sought a partner for a new Battlefront title. DICE previously developed two games in the series, released in 2015 and 2017, which maintained popularity despite controversy surrounding loot boxes in the second installment.

Interest in the franchise remains high following a recent resurgence in the player base for Battlefront 2. EA also plans to expand Apex Legends with additional gameplay modes and new experiences as part of its broader strategy to grow its shooter offerings.
