According to reports from the Commercial Times, Intel, Qualcomm, and AMD are facing potential price adjustments within their supply chains. These rumors, which surfaced in October, suggest that Intel has already implemented new pricing for several processor generations, while Qualcomm has adjusted costs for its ARM-based notebook platforms.
Intel's Panther Lake processors reportedly saw supply chain increases of up to 20%, particularly for models featuring high-performance integrated GPUs. Other Intel lines, including Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake, are cited with increases between 5% and 10%, while Alder Lake and Twin Lake chips may have risen by 10% to 20%.
Qualcomm allegedly increased prices for Snapdragon X and Snapdragon X2 Elite platforms by approximately 10% starting in October. Meanwhile, AMD is reportedly preparing its own price adjustments for specific Ryzen consumer processors and EPYC server chips, though these changes remain in the planning stages.
These cost pressures are attributed to rising expenses in semiconductor production, such as wafers and advanced packaging, alongside high demand for AI and high-performance computing chips. However, it remains uncertain if these supply chain increases will directly translate to retail prices, as distributors and manufacturers may absorb or modify these costs.
