Sega has announced a series of upcoming content updates for Sonic Racing Cross World, scheduled to begin in autumn 2026. The expansion includes paid DLC packs featuring Godzilla and Evangelion, alongside free updates introducing characters like Bayonetta and Aigis from Persona 3 Reload. These additions bring new playable racers, themed vehicles, and specialized tracks to the game.
The new Duel mode offers one-on-one races where players can unlock characters like Bayonetta by clearing specific challenges. Gameplay mechanics emphasize strategic drifting for speed boosts and the use of items to hinder opponents. Tracks such as Godzilla Escape and Tokyo-3 provide unique environmental hazards, including giant obstacles and dynamic boss encounters that require precise navigation and timing to overcome.
The reviewer noted that while the game is accessible to beginners, it maintains depth through track-specific challenges and character-based vehicle designs. The inclusion of iconic locations and thematic music enhances the experience, though the reviewer observed that mastering cornering and air tricks is essential for success. The game is currently available on platforms including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
