Electronic Arts has announced significant organizational changes, including the reduction of 400 positions across the company. CEO David Tinson and CSO Cam Weber stated that while the firm maintains a leading position in Western HD gaming, it must adapt to intensifying competition and shifting industry models.
The publisher is adjusting its game portfolio by pausing development on a Sims-related title known as Project Lotus to prioritize Project Evergreen. Additionally, the studio behind the early access Skate reboot is undergoing restructuring to become a smaller, more focused team, despite the project's reported success.
Future development efforts will concentrate on fewer large-scale projects to ensure success. While titles like the Iron Man game and a third Star Wars Jedi entry remain unaffected, the company plans to merge Respawn and DICE to collaborate on an undisclosed future project.
EA remains committed to its sports simulation titles, including FC. The company also teased two upcoming projects: a revival of Fight Night and a social-first open-world experience for its American Football team, titled Project Gridiron, both expected to be revealed in the coming months.
