Key information
AMD has officially expanded support for its FSR 4.1 upscaling technology to include Radeon RX 6000-series graphics cards. This rollout arrives significantly earlier than the originally anticipated 2027 timeframe for these specific GPUs.
The company confirmed that FSR 4.1 will also be integrated into a wide range of future hardware, including Gorgon and Strix Halo chips for mobile workstations and mini desktops. Additionally, the technology is slated for all Ryzen 9 laptop chips within those families, as well as Z2 Extreme and Z2A handheld processors.
Beyond PC hardware, AMD announced that FSR 4.1 is coming to Xbox consoles and will receive specific optimizations for Asus ROG handhelds. Furthermore, the company plans to bring FSR 4 to the Vulkan API, a move expected to benefit Linux-based gaming devices like the Steam Deck by providing a non-proprietary alternative to DirectX 12.
While specific release timelines for these broader platform updates remain unannounced, the expansion aims to improve performance across older systems. Jack Huynh, SVP and GM of Computing and Graphics at AMD, noted that the company continues to build upon its presence in over a billion gaming devices globally.
