Paramount and Legendary Pictures have partnered with Titmouse to incorporate 2D animated sequences into the upcoming Street Fighter film. The movie is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on October 15.

Director Kitao Sakurai chose to utilize hand-drawn animation to depict significant past events involving the characters Ken, played by Noah Centineo, and Ryu, played by Andrew Koji. These segments occur as the protagonists recall their personal histories.

Sakurai stated that his decision to include these 2D segments was influenced by the cultural legacy of the Street Fighter franchise and his own experiences living in Japan. These sequences are intended to appear during key moments of the narrative.

While the film is set for an October 15 release in some contexts, other reports indicate a theatrical debut on October 16. These animated flashbacks are a central stylistic feature of the new Capcom adaptation.
