Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has introduced a controversial operator trait called Possum in its DMZ extraction mode. Players are labeling the perk as broken because it allows users to self-revive after being fully killed and lootable, rather than just during the down-but-not-out state available to all players.
The trait functions as a powerful trump card that can be unlocked quickly by focusing on the Warfighter skill tree. While some users utilize it to escape after enemies have moved on, others are using it to instantly turn the tide of combat, leading to scenarios where players are shot in the back by opponents they believed were already defeated.
The author notes that the perk has inherent drawbacks, as the self-revive process is not instantaneous and requires the player to recover from a down-but-not-out state using a tourniquet. If an opponent remains vigilant, they can eliminate the reviving player before they fully stand up.
Critics suggest that Infinity Ward may need to adjust the mechanic to prevent unfair combat advantages. Potential solutions discussed include increasing the activation time, adding audio cues, or introducing a method for opponents to burn bodies to prevent revival, similar to mechanics found in Hunt: Showdown.
