Following the closure of the legendary developer BioWare, CD Projekt joint CEO Michał Nowakowski has publicly acknowledged the studio's significant role in the history of his company. Nowakowski expressed his sadness regarding the brand's end and the impact on affected staff, describing it as a difficult day for the gaming industry.
The professional relationship between the two companies began when CD Projekt secured the rights to localize Baldur's Gate for markets in Poland, Czech, and Slovakia. This initial collaboration fostered a lasting connection that proved vital for CD Projekt's early development efforts.
BioWare provided essential support during the creation of the original Witcher game by lending CD Projekt the Aurora Engine. Beyond technical assistance, BioWare shared industry wisdom and even allowed the Polish studio to showcase its debut RPG at their own booth during E3 2004.
This partnership helped launch CD Projekt into the global market, marking the start of its evolution into a major industry powerhouse. Nowakowski noted that he personally visited the Edmonton office and hosted BioWare representatives in Warsaw, highlighting the depth of their long-standing professional bond.
