French developer Hibernian Workshop has released a free update for its roguelite Astral Ascent, featuring a collaboration with Sandfall Interactive's Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. This content is available across PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and the Switch 2.
The update introduces three new boss encounters against Golgra, Petank, and Mime, set in environments inspired by the world of Expedition 33. Players can also utilize the six Expedition 33 heroes—Maelle, Gustave, Lune, Sciel, Monoco, and Verso—as summons. These characters offer 22 distinct variations, including Maelle’s health-linked posture system and Monoco’s creature-summoning cards, alongside two new musical tracks and a character named Esquie.
Louis Denizet, CEO of Hibernian Workshop, expressed pride in the partnership, noting that the team has been fans of Sandfall Interactive's work from the start. While this marks Sandfall's first external collaboration, Hibernian Workshop has previously integrated content from titles like Dead Cells, Ravenswatch, and Children of Morta.
Alongside the content update, Astral Ascent has launched a dedicated version for the Nintendo Switch 2, moving beyond the previous reliance on backward compatibility for Nintendo's latest hardware.
