Key information

Q-Games has released the asymmetric horror game Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch for Nintendo Switch 2, developed by the French studio Atlantis Studio. The title is available for 2,480 yen including tax.

The game requires two players to take on distinct roles as an Explorer and a Watcher to escape a mysterious mansion. The Explorer navigates the environment in first-person, while the Watcher utilizes surveillance systems, documents, and tactical tools to guide their partner. Success depends on constant communication, as neither player possesses all necessary information to survive.

Gameplay mechanics emphasize the risks of poor coordination. Misinterpreted instructions, overlooked details, or creating loud noises can alert the entity known as the Gloom, potentially leading to failure. The game supports various multiplayer modes, including online, local, and a specific feature allowing players to connect via Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch hardware.

To celebrate the launch, the Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch World Championship is being held from October 22 to November 2. Teams of two can compete by streaming their playthrough on Twitch, with the winning team receiving a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland, valued at up to 4,500 euros. Participation is free for eligible players, with further rules available on the Q-Games Discord.
