Xbox Insiders can now test a new method for streaming games by purchasing cloud playtime, a feature that does not require an active Game Pass subscription. This early preview allows participants to stream games on supported devices before the option sees a broader release in November.
The cloud playtime packs offer an ad-free experience characterized by high-quality streaming and reduced wait times. Purchased playtime remains valid until the user consumes it. Additionally, Insiders have the option to test a free, ad-supported version of cloud gaming.
Access to these features depends on several factors, including the user's market, device, account eligibility, and specific preview ring. Participants must own a cloud-playable game or access select free-to-play titles to utilize the service on a supported device.
Microsoft encourages participants to share feedback through the Xbox Insider Hub or the official Xbox Insider subreddit to assist in refining the experience. Those not currently in the program can join via the Xbox Insider Hub on Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox One.
