On October 7, 2026, Microsoft unveiled the Surface Laptop Ultra at a San Francisco event, marking the debut of the NVIDIA RTX Spark (N1X) SoC. Pre-orders for the device are currently open.

The RTX Spark integrates an Arm-based CPU with a GPU utilizing the Blackwell architecture, similar to the GeForce RTX 50 series. The laptop offers two configurations: a base model with 18 CPU cores and 5120 CUDA cores, and a high-end model featuring 20 CPU cores and 6144 CUDA cores.

Memory options range from 24GB to 128GB. While NVIDIA highlights the SoC's ability to run Windows games, the high pricing makes it a questionable choice for a dedicated gaming laptop. ASUSTeK Computer and MSI have also announced RTX Spark laptops, though they are positioning their units specifically for AI developers.

The device is available in Nightfall and Platinum colors, though Platinum is restricted to specific configurations. Future iterations may eventually compete with traditional AMD or Intel gaming PCs, but such market parity remains a distant prospect.
