Abylight Studios has introduced S.O.N.A.R., a cooperative submarine simulation game, as part of the Steam October Next Fest. Players can currently download a free demo to experience the chaotic team-based gameplay.
The game supports up to four players who must manage nine critical submarine functions, including navigation, sonar, weapon systems, and damage control. Effective coordination is essential, as a single incorrect button press can lead to the immediate sinking of the vessel.
Beyond combat and stealth missions, the title incorporates survival mechanics. Crews must monitor food supplies, rest, and health, as fatigue or seasickness can prevent characters from executing basic commands during high-pressure situations.
The demo includes a single-player tutorial and two cooperative missions. The full game, which features proximity voice chat for emergency communication, is scheduled for release on October 29 and will support Traditional Chinese.
