Key information
Developers Double Stallion and Vendetta announced that their cooperative action RPG, Surfpunk, is participating in the Steam Next Fest from October 20 to October 27. The game features a post-apocalyptic world where players act as Raiders, navigating a flooded landscape to collect energy known as Ebres while battling mysterious creatures called Sumi.
The core gameplay, described as surf-and-slash, involves using a Rushboard to traverse procedurally generated islands while fighting enemies with four distinct weapon types: swords, pistols, anchors, and guitars. Each weapon offers unique abilities and roles for the one to four-player cooperative experience.
The updated demo introduces a revamped blacksmithing system, 32 new mods, four additional skills, and three new cutscenes. Developers also improved lobby connectivity via codes and increased movement speed for solo players. Participants who play on October 20 or 21 can unlock exclusive character customization items.
Visually, the game utilizes a vibrant, anime-inspired 3D art style paired with a surf-rock soundtrack. Players can extensively customize their characters, including physical details, as they progress through missions to unlock new gear and high-difficulty content ahead of the eventual early access release.
