CD PROJEKT RED has announced the free 2.5 update for Cyberpunk 2077, which introduces content inspired by the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The update includes a prequel quest titled No Prison, No Chains, alongside new gameplay mechanics like dual-wielding firearms and cross-platform mod support.
The update introduces a dual-wielding mechanic unlocked via the new Cool perk called Sidekick, allowing players to use powerful pistols or revolvers simultaneously. Additionally, players can now customize the appearance and color of cyberware, such as Mantis Blades or Gorilla Arms, by visiting one of five Ripperdocs. New clothing options from brands like Jinguji and NetWatch are also available.
New open-world content includes the quest Welcome to Paradise, which requires a Street Cred level of 15, and the addition of 12 minor arcana tarot cards scattered throughout Night City. Players can also access the new HGKN 102.0 FM radio station to listen to music from the Edgerunners series.
The 2.5 update is scheduled for release on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version arriving later. Technical improvements include cross-platform mod support, DLSS 4.5 integration, and a new save file organization system based on playthroughs.
