CD PROJEKT RED has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a free 2.5 update titled the Edgerunners 2 Update on October 22. This release introduces new content and items inspired by the Netflix animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which premiered today.
The update features significant gameplay additions, including cyberware customization and a new dual-wielding combat style. Promotional artwork suggests a crossover between the two properties, depicting the character Weak Kingsley alongside the game's protagonist, V, as they engage in combat against MaxTac.
The developer plans to host a REDstreams broadcast on October 21 at 5 PM CEST to provide a deeper look at these features. This session will clarify how new characters will appear and whether players can acquire specific equipment related to the animated series.
The 2.5 update is scheduled to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles. A version for the Switch 2 is expected to arrive at a later date. This release continues the developer's history of providing post-launch support, following previous updates that introduced features like the NCART metro system, dating mechanics, and automated driving improvements.
