The first console game based on the anime The Apothecary Diaries, titled The Apothecary Diaries: False Imperial Brother, is scheduled for release on March 18, 2027. Pre-orders for the physical edition of this mystery adventure title began on October 21, 2026.
Players assume the role of Maomao, a pharmacist from the pleasure district, to investigate mysteries involving five riddles and five curses. The gameplay loop centers on exploration, gathering evidence, preparing medicine, organizing information, and deduction. These phases are interconnected, as items created through medicine preparation and negotiation outcomes serve as clues to solve cases.
The game introduces a new system allowing players to control Jinshi and Maomao's cat, Mao-mao, to uncover information inaccessible to the protagonist. Additionally, the title features an original character, a popular traveling actor who hides a timid personality behind a confident stage persona. Players can also engage with familiar characters through the Person Investigation Record, where fulfilling requests increases intimacy and unlocks character-specific anecdotes.
Beyond the main narrative, the game includes completionist elements such as the Achievement Seal system, which rewards players with full-sized stills upon completing chapter-specific conditions. The digital version of the game will be available for pre-order starting October 22, 2026.
