Developer Pocketpair has officially announced a major update for the open-world survival game Palworld, titled Side by Side, which is scheduled for release in the winter of 2026. This announcement follows the recent conclusion of the 2026 Global Popularity Poll, which featured over 280 Pals and various in-game characters.
The popularity poll, which began in September 2026, saw Sekhmet secure the top spot in the Pal category with 49,637 votes, followed by Melpaca and Relaxaurus. In the character category, Zoe claimed first place with 133,221 votes, ahead of Lily and Saya. These results reflect global participation, though regional variations exist; for instance, in the Traditional Chinese region, Lily took the lead in the character rankings over Zoe.
Accompanying the update announcement, Pocketpair released a teaser visual featuring silhouettes of three characters. While these figures resemble the top-ranked characters Zoe, Lily, and Saya, the developer has not yet confirmed if these specific individuals will play a role in the upcoming content.
Palworld, which supports up to 32 players, officially launched its 1.0 version in July 2026 across Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Mac. The upcoming winter update arrives just months after this full release, continuing the studio's commitment to expanding the game's world and features.
