Sega and Creative Assembly announced on October 15 the temporary suspension of sales for Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition, which had launched on October 14. This decision follows feedback indicating that the current gaming experience fails to meet user expectations and the company's internal quality standards.

The Complete Edition was intended to be the definitive version of the 2011 strategy title, bundling all DLC including Rise of the Samurai and Fall of the Samurai. Technical enhancements included 1440p and 4K resolution support, 64-bit compatibility, official Mod.io support, and the addition of over 50 playable minor clans, alongside new Japanese and Chinese language options.

Despite these additions, the game faced significant backlash. Steam user reviews have labeled the title as Overwhelmingly Negative, with only 16% positive ratings out of over 3100 reviews. Users have specifically highlighted numerous bugs as a primary point of criticism regarding the release.

Sega and Creative Assembly are currently investigating the issues and working with platform holders to facilitate a re-release. While sales are suspended, users who already purchased the game retain the ability to play it. The developers have committed to working with partners to identify causes and improve the experience to meet the quality expected of the Total War franchise.
