Key information
Developer Potato Kid and publisher Acclaim have released an updated PC demo for Talaka, a roguelite action game currently featured in the Steam Next Fest. The title is slated for release in early 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Set in a world inspired by Afro-Brazilian mythology, players control a young warrior fighting to restore harmony. The game features hand-drawn, watercolor-style visuals and incorporates elements from Candomblé rituals and local folklore.
Combat emphasizes dodging and parrying, with over 150 combinations of weapons and skills available. Recent updates allow for vertical aiming with bows and boomerangs, while the Shango Axe now includes a timed critical attack mechanic. An AI Director has also been implemented to manage enemy attack frequency, ensuring the screen remains readable during intense encounters.
While the game does not currently support Japanese, the demo allows players to explore the unique combat and progression systems. The title is currently undergoing refinement following a closed beta phase.
