Key information

Intel Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Classiq, a company specializing in quantum computing software. This strategic move aims to integrate Classiq's synthesis platform with Intel's existing spin-qubit manufacturing and software capabilities to establish a comprehensive, full-stack quantum computing platform.

Classiq provides a unifying software platform that functions independently of specific qubit modalities or hardware. By offering high-level abstraction, the technology allows for the design of quantum applications without requiring specialized expertise in circuit design, mirroring the role that Electronic Design Automation played in advancing classical silicon chip development.

Intel has invested in quantum research since 2015 and currently maintains the capacity to manufacture qubit chips and cryogenic control electronics at scale. The acquisition will allow Intel to incorporate Quantum Processing Units into its broader compute portfolio, which already includes CPUs, GPUs, and ASICs.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Intel expects the deal to close in the first half of 2027. Until that time, both organizations will continue to operate as independent entities, with Intel planning to maintain Classiq's existing multi-platform integrations post-acquisition.
