Key information

India-based startup Matiks has raised $10 million in pre-Series A funding led by General Catalyst. This investment brings the company's total funding to over $13.5 million. The platform, which focuses on math, logic, and memory games, has seen significant growth, with daily active users rising from 22,000 earlier this year to over 300,000 by September.

The app features a dual-format system where users can practice against bots or compete against real players in categories like math, puzzles, and memory. Players can earn points, maintain streaks, and complete quests. Additionally, the company recently introduced Jelo, an experimental platform allowing users to create and share their own games.

TechCrunch reviewer Manish Singh noted that the games provide a pleasant distraction that can be finished in minutes. He observed that the app avoids aggressive ad pop-ups and does not heavily push in-game purchases, which he found refreshing compared to other mobile titles.

Matiks is currently testing a subscription model to unlock features like game analysis and practice tools. While the majority of its player base is in India, the company is targeting expansion into markets including the U.S., South Korea, and Japan, with plans to implement localization to support this growth.
