Distinct Possibility Studios has unveiled Valesong, a new fantasy-themed collectable card game designed for four players. The project, led by John Smedley, incorporates deckbuilding mechanics and shifting alliances, drawing comparisons to the commander format of Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone.
The game includes 14 heroes, each possessing unique class-based abilities. Players can utilize voice chat and customize their own card backs. The title is designed to be launched directly through Discord.
The studio explicitly states that Valesong was created using artificial intelligence. Smedley defends this approach, describing the team as an AI Native Studio. He argues that AI tools allow smaller companies to increase creativity and efficiency, suggesting that AI-assisted coding and art production will ultimately benefit the industry.
Valesong is scheduled for an early access launch on October 29th via Discord. Plans for future releases on Steam and mobile platforms are currently in development.
