ININ Games has officially announced that the release of Shenmue III Enhanced will be delayed. Originally expected to launch in the final quarter of 2026, the title will now arrive in early 2027. The publisher stated that the development team requires additional time to finalize details and ensure the project meets their quality standards.
The updated version of the 2019 title aims to improve the original experience through various technical and gameplay adjustments. Enhancements include improved performance, revised textures, reduced loading times, and support for DLSS and FSR. Furthermore, the game will feature a denser population, a camera system inspired by the first two entries, and quality-of-life changes such as simplified QTEs and the ability to skip dialogue.
According to ININ Games, the development process is progressing at a steady pace. The team acknowledged the anticipation surrounding the opportunity to see the protagonist, Ryo Hazuki, on modern consoles. This release is intended to bring the game to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2, potentially gauging interest in the future of the series.
