Microsoft has announced a one-month extension for the consultation period regarding the future of Arkane Lyon. Previously slated for closure, the studio behind Marvel's Blade is now exploring options, including finding a partner to support ongoing development.
The extension follows reports that the studio's survival deadline was originally set for November 13. Experts suggest that the complexity of the Marvel licensing agreement with Disney, alongside stringent French and European labor laws, may be contributing factors to this prolonged evaluation period.
Simultaneously, Xbox is navigating a significant leadership change following the departure of Helen Chiang. Having served at Microsoft for two decades, Chiang recently transitioned into the role of the first-ever COO of Xbox only three months ago.
While CEO Asha Sharma confirmed the departure, citing gratitude for Chiang's service, the circumstances remain under scrutiny. Eurogamer reports that a source familiar with the matter alleges a violation of company policy, though Microsoft has not officially confirmed these claims.
