Microsoft is actively exploring options to secure the future of Arkane Lyon, including the search for a partner to provide financial support for the completion of Marvel's Blade. The company has officially extended the deadline to find a buyer for the studio by one month.

The studio's 217 employees face potential job losses following Microsoft's initial decision to close the developer, which was first communicated on July 16. French labor laws have complicated these closure plans, as the costs associated with shutting down a studio in France are significant due to mandatory severance requirements.

Journalist Jason Schreier noted that multiple paths are being explored to save the studio, suggesting that a total closure remains uncertain. Meanwhile, union representatives have criticized the divestment strategy, arguing that Microsoft is prioritizing short-term profitability despite the studio's performance, and they have not ruled out legal action.

While the union advocates for the re-employment of staff within other Xbox divisions, development on Marvel's Blade continues. The title, which was announced in December 2023, is currently targeted for a release in the fourth quarter of 2027.
