Arkane Lyon, the final remaining branch of Arkane Studios, is currently at risk of closure due to Microsoft's restructuring plans. The studio, known for titles like Dishonored and Deathloop, is fighting to protect its 217 employees.
Under France's Florange Law, Microsoft is required to seek a buyer for the studio for three months before proceeding with mass layoffs. While the initial deadline was November 13, Microsoft extended this period by one month, setting a new deadline of December 13.
Despite the uncertainty, journalist Jason Schreier noted that multiple parties have expressed interest in acquiring the studio, stating he would be surprised if the developer actually closed. The studio is currently working on the upcoming game Marvel’s Blade.
Union representatives report that Marvel’s Blade is nearing completion and is expected to be a successful release. As the December deadline approaches, the future of the studio remains dependent on finding a suitable buyer to avoid permanent shutdown.
