Valve has released the list of the 20 most popular demos from the October 2026 Steam Next Fest. This event, which concludes on October 26, showcases a wide variety of PC titles primarily developed by independent studios. The current rankings reflect player interest measured between October 19 and October 23, meaning further shifts in the top 20 are possible before the festival officially ends.

The selection of popular titles features unique gameplay mechanics. For instance, Find the Needle focuses on assembly line management, while Fart Together requires up to four players to coordinate flatulence to navigate obstacle courses. Other notable entries include Worst Class Ever, a party game about causing trouble in a classroom, and Dumpster Gang, where players control raccoons completing missions.

The festival has faced controversy regarding the prevalence of titles created using generative artificial intelligence. Despite this, the community has shown enthusiasm for creative concepts, such as a game involving cleaning the Moon with a toothbrush and a survival horror title set in Napoleonic Europe.

These demos remain available on the Steam digital storefront as part of the festival's final days. The event serves as a platform for developers to share trial versions of diverse projects, ranging from cooperative shooters and RPGs to idle desktop companions like Character House, ahead of their eventual full releases.
