Arkane Lyon, the developer behind Dishonored, faces an uncertain future under Microsoft. Following a restructuring process, the studio was initially given until November 13 to find a buyer or face closure. According to Le Monde, Microsoft has now extended this deadline to December 13, providing more time to seek potential investors.

The studio's situation is governed by the Florange Law in France, which mandates that companies must attempt to find a buyer before shutting down a facility. This legal requirement initiated a consultation period, which was further extended by one month following requests from the unions Printemps Écologique and Syndicat des Travailleureuses du Jeu Vidéo, as confirmed by a Microsoft spokesperson to PC Gamer.

The ongoing development of Marvel's Blade complicates the search for a solution. Announced three years ago, the project remains in production but reportedly requires several more years to complete. This long development timeline makes it difficult to secure a buyer or partner willing to support the studio and the project's continuity.

Negotiations regarding the studio's fate have included various possibilities, such as a sale, a management buyout, or total closure. On July 16, management informed employees of Microsoft's intent to close the studio. Current discussions now explore alternatives, including finding a partner to support the development of Marvel's Blade without necessarily acquiring the entire studio.
