Key information
Publisher rokaplay and Berlin-based developer Kaleb announced that the PC simulation game Drawquarium will release on November 13. A demo version is currently available for players to experience on Steam.
The title functions as a sandbox simulator where users create custom aquariums using their own drawings of fish and plants. These creations come to life, allowing players to feed and nurture them. Beyond aquatic life, users can add objects like submarines, castles, or spaceships, with templates provided for those who prefer not to draw from scratch.
Players can draw using a mouse or Wacom pen tablets, and the game supports importing PNG files from external software. As fish grow, they develop a metallic sheen and eventually turn gold. Caring for them rewards players with golden scales, which unlock new customization options like lighting adjustments, sand colors, and decorative items.
The software doubles as a productivity tool, featuring a clock, stopwatch, task manager, diary, and Pomodoro timer. Completed aquariums can also be set as animated desktop wallpapers. Developer Kaleb, a professional 3D artist, built the project using Unreal Engine and Blueprints.
