WhisperGames showcased White Babel Studio’s upcoming title Trick Eight at G-Fusion Game Fest 2026. The game features a distinct visual style reminiscent of 1990s Hong Kong color comics, set within an isolated village steeped in the folklore of the Eight Immortals and a ritual known as Chengxian.
Players navigate through comic-book panels to investigate clues and solve puzzles. The gameplay involves switching between multiple protagonists, such as the gambler detective Shi and a survivor named Baicai. Investigation requires extracting keywords from documents to create evidence cards, which are then used to verify testimonies and deduce the truth behind mysterious deaths and ritualistic sacrifices.
The reviewer noted that the game provides a satisfying sense of catharsis similar to reading a mystery novel as players logically assemble facts. However, they observed that the game’s pacing could be improved. Specifically, the reviewer felt that the heavy reliance on reading large volumes of text to grasp the overall situation creates a significant burden for the player.
Trick Eight is currently scheduled for release on PC in 2026 and will include support for the Japanese language.
