Gen.G secured their place in the Worlds 2026 quarter-finals on Sunday, 25 October 2026, by defeating LYON 2-1. This victory completed a 3-0 Swiss Stage run for the LCK champions, who previously defeated Invictus Gaming and Hanwha Life Esports.
LYON dominated the opening game, securing two Barons and utilizing strong performances from Inspired and Berserker to overcome Gen.G. However, Gen.G equalized the series in the second game after a decisive 23-minute teamfight led to a Baron and Dragon Soul. In the final match, Gen.G recovered from an early loss of Galio to break the mid inhibitor and secure the series win.
Dot Esports noted that LYON's early success relied on key plays from their jungler and bot laner, while highlighting that Gen.G's Canyon struggled with his Qiyana ultimates during the first game. Despite the loss, LYON remains in the tournament with a 2-1 record and will compete in Round 4 to seek the final win required for the Knockout Stage.
The Swiss Stage continues at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas. Round 4 is scheduled for 28 to 30 October, followed by Round 5 on 31 October. The quarter-finals are set to take place from 3 to 6 November.
