Director Peter Berg has announced that the upcoming Call of Duty film adaptation will focus on the dark costs of war and the psychological toll on soldiers. Based on the Modern Warfare series, the project aims to look beyond simple combat scenarios.

Berg, working from a script by Taylor Sheridan, intends to portray iconic characters like Captain Price, Soap, Ghost, and Alex as complex human beings rather than flat archetypes. He emphasizes that the film will highlight the heavy burdens soldiers carry to protect others.

The director noted that the film will possess intense spirit and reflect the consequences of conflict. He clarified that the production will not be as violent as his other upcoming Netflix project, The Mosquito Bowl, which is scheduled for release on November 25.

The Call of Duty movie is currently slated for a theatrical release on June 30, 2028. This adaptation follows the success of the Modern Warfare 4 game campaign, which has been praised by fans as a significant return to form for the franchise.
