Key information
Big Neko Games showcased the puzzle adventure title Awai to Kochi at the DREAMSCAPE #5 indie event. Designed for PC and browser, the game tasks players with guiding two characters, Awai and Kochi, to their respective goals using a single stroke drawn on an old scroll.
The core mechanic involves drawing a line that serves dual purposes. While the black character Awai follows the path directly, the white character Kochi treats the same line as a wall, bouncing off it based on the angle and speed of impact. Players must calculate these trajectories to navigate both characters successfully.
Developer Genshin Takeuchi describes the game as having a Cubist-inspired design, where a single object functions simultaneously as both a path and a barrier. As stages progress, players encounter increasing complexity, including wind that alters Kochi's trajectory, disappearing ink, and paper tears that require more advanced strategic planning.
The game is optimized for vertical smartphone use, allowing for quick play sessions. Beyond the digital experience, the world of Awai and Kochi is also explored through a novel, offering players multiple perspectives on the same setting. Interested users are encouraged to try the available demo.
