Key information
At the DREAMSCAPE#5 indie event held on October 24, 2026, developer DuctHive showcased ArcaBit, a challenging 2D wire action game. The title distinguishes itself by requiring players to navigate stages using two independent hooks controlled by the left and right hands.
The game is designed for controller play, utilizing dual sticks for aiming and shoulder buttons for firing and holding hooks. Players must master momentum and physics, as the character cannot walk; all movement relies on hook recoil or swinging. Coordinating both hooks to create momentum is essential for progression.
The developer notes that the game's high difficulty stems from complex controls, such as managing hook orientation when the character flips. While a special two-mouse control scheme was prototyped, it was abandoned due to accessibility issues and extreme difficulty. Despite the steep learning curve, the game features frequent checkpoints to facilitate a 'die-and-retry' experience.
ArcaBit is currently available on Steam. The developer emphasizes that the game is fully playable and rewarding using a standard game controller, offering a significant sense of accomplishment upon clearing difficult stages.
