Valve has officially released SteamOS 3.9.0 to the Stable update channel. This major update follows a recent beta patch that addressed various issues within the distribution's gaming and desktop modes.

The update introduces significant technical upgrades, specifically transitioning the Desktop Mode to KDE 6.7.3 from the previous 6.4.3 version. Additionally, the system now utilizes Linux kernel 7.2, which provides enhanced support for Intel Arc B390 hardware and introduces USB4Stream functionality for device-to-device sharing.

Users will benefit from improved Krunner search capabilities, clipboard pinning, and better compatibility for drawing tablets. Valve has also implemented backend adjustments, including a return to the wpa_supplicant network system to bolster connectivity and improved bootloader compatibility for third-party motherboards.

Further refinements include an unlocked lock screen option within Desktop Mode settings. While Valve has integrated preliminary support for hibernation, the feature remains hidden and is not currently exposed for direct user interaction.
