To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original Tomb Raider, developers Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog, alongside publisher Amazon Game Studios, unveiled a new look at the upcoming remake, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The project was showcased during the TR30 Derby and MCM London events.
The remake features modernized gameplay mechanics, moving beyond a simple one-to-one recreation. Players will utilize a new Focus meter, which builds during combat and dodging, allowing them to slow time and execute iconic acrobatic maneuvers. Additionally, the game introduces skill trees and crafting systems to enhance the experience.
The title revisits classic locations including Peru, Greece, Egypt, and Atlantis, featuring updated graphics for memorable encounters like the Atlas puzzle and Atlantean enemies. While the game retains Lara's classic aesthetic, a pre-order incentive offers her appearance from the Survivor trilogy.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled for release on February 12, 2027, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Deluxe and collector's editions will provide 48-hour early access. Following this release, Crystal Dynamics plans to launch Tomb Raider: Catalyst later in 2027.
