Key information

Users of Steam Deck or Linux-based PCs have historically faced limited options for accessing PC Game Pass, often relying on installing Windows or utilizing XBOX Cloud Gaming. The latter requires a Game Pass Ultimate subscription costing 20,99 euros monthly and introduces latency issues dependent on connection stability.

A new open-source project called Xodus Nexus, developed by GitHub user domsvoboda, seeks to bridge this gap. This experimental launcher utilizes modified technology based on Proton to enable the execution of Windows games on Linux, featuring an interface similar to the official XBOX application and cloud save synchronization.

Building upon the Xodus reverse-engineering project, Xodus Nexus version 0.3.8 introduces XBOX achievements and playtime tracking. It supports titles such as Sea of Thieves, Avowed, Forza Horizon 6, and Gears of War: E-Day. The launcher also includes download queues, DualSense controller compatibility, and the ability to add games to Steam with cover art.

Despite these advancements, the developer notes that the experience is not yet perfect. Support for Steam Deck and its Game Mode remains experimental, with compatibility varying by title. Users may encounter navigation difficulties, loading loops, or login windows requiring touch or mouse input. Access still necessitates a valid Microsoft account and an active PC Game Pass subscription.
