Director Peter Berg is currently developing a film adaptation based on the Call of Duty franchise. Working from a screenplay written by Taylor Sheridan, Berg intends to focus the narrative on the emotional weight and consequences associated with military service.
The production aims to move beyond simple action tropes by highlighting the burden carried by soldiers. Berg characterizes iconic figures like Captain Price, Soap, Ghost, and Alex as complex individuals rather than one-dimensional archetypes, emphasizing that the project possesses a distinct soul.
Regarding the film's tone, Berg indicated that the project will likely feature less graphic violence compared to his other upcoming Netflix project, The Mosquito Bowl. The director stressed that the story will prioritize the human cost of conflict over mindless spectacle.
The Mosquito Bowl is scheduled for release on Netflix on 25th November. Meanwhile, the Call of Duty movie is currently slated to arrive in theaters on 30th June 2028.
