Key information

A live-action film adaptation of the open-world RPG Elden Ring is currently in development at A24. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the production is expected to cost nearly $200 million, marking a significant increase from previous estimates of over $100 million.

This financial commitment represents a major shift for the studio, as it would far exceed the budget of its previous most expensive project, Marty Supreme, which reportedly cost approximately $70 million.

Alex Garland is attached to write and direct the feature, which is being filmed for IMAX. The project is described as at least partially serving as a prequel to the game, with recent set footage from Conwy Castle showing human soldiers patrolling before the Shattering.

The film features an ensemble cast including Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, and Nick Offerman. Audiences can expect the adaptation to arrive in cinemas on 3rd March 2028.
