Key information
Modder Yui has released a Seamless Co-op mod for Dark Souls 2, marking the latest entry in their series of modifications. This release allows players to experience the game with shared story progress while utilizing a siloed system of servers and saves to prevent interference with vanilla game anticheat measures.
The mod significantly alters the traditional cooperative experience by removing standard limitations. If a player dies during exploration, they respawn at a bonfire and can rejoin their group without resetting progress, provided they are not currently engaged in a boss fight or facing a PvP invader.
PC Gamer contributor Tyler Colp and senior guides writer Sean Martin noted that while the mod functions smoothly, users may encounter occasional technical hitches such as latency or mismatched details between game instances. Despite these minor issues, the mod is described as an effective way to reduce the trial-and-error frustration often associated with the base game.
The mod also impacts PvP, making invasions more frequent than in the vanilla experience by requiring players to consciously opt out. Dark Souls 2 remains available on Steam, and the Seamless Co-op mod can be downloaded via the Dark Souls 2 Nexus.
