Jordan Thomas, the director of BioShock 2 and founder of the studio Question, revealed he played Path of Exile for 7,613 hours. Thomas utilized the game as a vital stress relief mechanism while managing the demanding development cycle of the co-op horror title The Blackout Club.

During that period, Thomas described his schedule as being essentially awake all the time. He balanced leading the team during the day with running live, in-game encounters and scheduling future events at night. He collaborated on character builds with Ken Strickland, priding himself on creating original character-growth paths rather than relying on influencer guides.

The Blackout Club featured a unique live story component that required Thomas to perform audio editing for god-casts. He utilized Audacity to process recordings from union actors, including talent from Critical Role and Ashly Burch, who were recorded in their own homes to facilitate real-time player interactions.

Beyond his work on The Blackout Club, Thomas recently launched The Killing Stone, a Shakespearean-inspired roguelike deckbuilder. He remains a fan of immersive systems, though he is no longer exclusively focused on the immersive sim genre, noting that other developers are currently renewing the conversation through new design approaches.
