Mahalagang impormasyon
The Netflix live-action adaptation of One Piece, which has been renewed for a third season, faced significant skepticism due to the platform's history with projects like Death Note. Showrunner Steve Maeda recently revealed that the series avoided a potential failure thanks to the direct intervention of creator Eiichiro Oda.
Maeda disclosed that Netflix originally intended to produce a first season consisting of only five episodes. These narrative changes were reportedly driven by budget constraints rather than a desire to accelerate the manga's plot, a direction that threatened the integrity of the source material.
Eiichiro Oda intervened by confronting Netflix executives, stating that the proposed changes did not align with their initial agreement. The author forced the studio to adhere to the original negotiations, effectively protecting the series' creative vision from further cuts that concerned the show's writers and directors.
This level of influence is attributed to Oda's unique status within the industry, which allows him to safeguard his 29-year-old, 1196-chapter creation. It remains to be seen if similar creative oversight will be applied to the upcoming Naruto live-action film project.
