The LEGO PlayStation set recreates the iconic 1994 console using 1911 pieces. Upon completion, the model measures 26cm in width, 6cm in height, and 19cm in depth. The build process is designed for adults, focusing on intricate details that evoke memories of the original hardware.
The construction process utilizes numbered bags and instructions, which can be supplemented by the LEGO Builder app. This digital tool provides 3D models that allow builders to rotate and inspect assembly angles, offering a clearer perspective than traditional paper manuals.
The set features functional elements, including pressable POWER and OPEN buttons that utilize suspension parts to mimic the tactile feel of the original console. Internal details include a recreation of the motherboard and hidden dioramas representing Gran Turismo and Ape Escape, complete with a Piposaru figure.
Reviewers noted that the assembly experience is emotionally resonant, as builders piece together the internal components and external features like ventilation ports. While the set is complex, it is considered accessible compared to larger LEGO models, providing a rewarding experience for those who enjoy uncovering the mechanical secrets hidden within the build.
