Key information

Acer has released the Predator Atlas 8, a new handheld gaming PC featuring Intel Arc G3 Extreme graphics. Available starting October 23, the device is currently listed at Best Buy for $1,299.99. This pricing positions the unit as a direct competitor to the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 and a more affordable alternative to the Legion Go 2.

The handheld is powered by the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 Panther Lake platform, which includes 14 cores and 14 threads with a 4.7GHz max turbo frequency. While the Acer model has not been reviewed, Jacqueline Thomas noted that the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, which utilizes the same graphics architecture, outperformed Z2 Extreme devices by up to 40% and maintained 60fps at 1200p resolution.

Hardware specifications include an 8-inch IPS display with 1920x1200 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate with VRR, and 500nits peak brightness. The system is equipped with 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a 512GB SSD, and MicroSD expansion. Control inputs feature TMR non-contact drift-resistant joysticks alongside dual-mode Hall Effect triggers.

Connectivity is provided via two USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C ports supporting Thunderbolt 4, DisplayPort 2.1, and 65W Power Delivery. Wireless capabilities include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Due to the aggressive pricing and the upcoming holiday season, there is speculation that the device may experience limited availability.
